Biographie
Gen_iart is an innovative, multidisciplinary post-digital artist based in Lyon. Combining imagination with artificial intelligence, robotics, algorithms, and drawing machines, he explores the creative potential of new technologies while remaining deeply rooted in street art and the urban landscape.
Through hyperactive experimentation and a prolific practice of original collages and trompe-l’œil interventions, Gen_iart reveals the hidden layers of our walls and cities. His work questions the boundary between human intuition and mechanical precision, between spontaneous gesture and programmed execution, inviting viewers into a world of curiosity where the lines between human and machine begin to blur.
How is an artwork created?
Each drawing presented here is a unique, one-of-a-kind piece. The image is first conceived digitally, on a tablet. It is then converted into a vector file, specifically designed for precise line drawing. The plotter (the machine that draws using a pen) produces the artwork line by line, over the course of several hours. Every line is different, every result irreplaceable.
This is not a print, but an original creation.
Gen_IArt’s works draw inspiration from the Haussmannian architecture of cities such as Lyon, from urban wanderings, and from street art practices.
The Bic pen used here recalls that it too was once a technological revolution, a simple, universal tool that became a popular icon.
