This Winter Show brought together 25 contemporary artists for a group exhibition centered on innovation and material experimentation. Bold, vibrant works filled the space, reflecting a wide range of artistic techniques and fresh perspectives. For many of the featured artists, this was their first time exhibiting, making the show a celebration of new talent and innovation.
The exhibition explored how artists engage with contemporary tools, unconventional media, and evolving processes. Olga Burkard, a Mexican-Swiss artist, for example, begins with hand-drawn patterns that she then distorts digitally, bridging the tactile and the virtual. Her presence in the show marked the beginning of her public artistic career.
Fuensanta Sobejano, a Spanish artist working with lenticular lenses, presented colorful, immersive works that shift alongside the movements of the viewer. These interactive pieces then turn the viewing experience into a dynamic dialogue between body and art. Swedish artist Sara Lundkvist returned with her signature blown-glass sculptures, full of color and light. These reflective works function as portals inviting viewers into parallel worlds. Her art is full of emotion, hinting at dreams and other imagined possibilities.
On a more restrained visual register, Jean-Michel Comte introduced a new direction in his monochrome practice. Known for his black-and-white pieces, he experimented with architectural forms, giving his work a new sculptural dimension. His participation in the Winter Collective led to his selection by curator Rosa Turetsky for Art Genève, his first appearance at an art fair.
As with all MABE Gallery exhibitions, this Winter Collective reflects the gallery’s commitment to supporting emerging contemporary artists. Selecting such a diverse set of techniques and styles allows for an elegant composition and a rich visual dialogue that highlights the possibilities of contemporary art today.
