Overview

Ranging from miniature works to large-scale cardboard installations, Sofia Cacciapaglia's works invite viewers to contemplate femininity, as well as the emotional and spiritual interconnectedness of women.

Characterized by sinuous forms, suspended figures that intertwine and overlap, her creations present women linked to one another through the rhythm of falling hair, touching hands, dancing feet, and discreet glances. Eyes are contemplative, like portals into inner worlds -- sometimes closed, sometimes open and full of mystery. Clandestine glances and poetic faces build a mysterious and captivating universe.

One of Cacciapaglia's favorite material is discarded cardboard boxes, which she transforms into supports for her paintings of women and gardens. The use of old boxes and recycled packaging paper is rooted in Italian artistic and historical traditions, evoking the Italian Arte Povera movement of the 1960s and ancient Roman frescoes.

In our modern age of ecological anxiety, her floral works address the cycle of the seasons as meditation on nature and emphasize the need for environmental renewal.
