BANASTUDIO

Ana Baigorri, the sculptor behind Banastudio, began her artistic journey in Madrid, Spain, after a 30-year career in fashion. Her extensive travels to places such as India, China, Japan, Mexico, and Istanbul exposed  her to a rich  palette of cultural influences, particularly  in traditional craftsmanship. This multicultural inspiration  is central to her work, where  elements of design and sculpture converge with a particular fascination for repurposing old books and papers.

Through Banastudio, Ana embodies her motto/brings her philosophy to life: “Create a work of art from a space.” Each piece is meticulously designed to resonate with its environment. She draws on her expertise in design toincorporate vintage books,reclaimed materials, and marbled book endpapers, paired with iron bases evocative of Eastern architecture. Her process often includes rediscovered treasures found in antique shops and markets, all finding a new life in her sculptures and merging historical elements with a contemporary touch.
